Elden Ring features Great Runes as key items that grant powerful buffs when activated, but there are specific steps players must take in order to acquire and activate them effectively.
Players must first acquire a Great elden ring runes from a Shardbearer Boss. Next, they should locate and activate any Divine Tower connected with that Great Rune in order to activate it.
Enhance Weapons Gear
Runes serve as the currency used for purchasing and upgrading gear in Elden Ring, similar to Souls in previous FromSoftware titles. Runes drop from defeated enemies or inside golden skulls players can smash, as well as various structures and dungeons across the Lands Between. Players may also come across Golden Runes which remain in their inventory until either traded in for cash or used to level up attributes.
Great elden ring runes are key items dropped by Shardbearer bosses that can be activated at Divine Towers to temporarily strengthen a player until death. Unfortunately, however, these cannot be consumed; rather they must be equipped in order for their effects to work effectively.
Early and mid-game players can amass runes quickly by engaging the monsters that inhabit Castle Redmane in southern Caelid. These creatures are generally simple enough to defeat, making farming an effective means of building up your inventory of runes quickly. A more advanced yet still straightforward method would be visiting an anvil and spending your runes on weapon and armor upgrades.
Buy Items
Elden Ring features several bosses that will drop Great elden ring runes for players to attach to their character for possible but limited buffs. Players may find these Great Runes throughout the Lands Between but must first retrieve and restore them in order to use them effectively.
Attain a Divine Tower and interact with an NPC; during your conversation you will have the option to either claim Godrick's or Malenia's Great Rune in Stormveil Castle or Miquella's Haligtree respectively.
Once recovered, the Great elden ring runes will be stored in your inventory where you can equip and equip at any Site of Grace to activate healing for a percentage of total health. Golden Runes may also be found hidden around the world inside glowing skulls that can be broken apart, as well as enemies defeated; using the Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot Talisman will increase how many runes are awarded when defeating enemies and structures.
Level Up
To maximize the use of your weapons and gear, leveling up is key to unlocking its full potential. But it comes at a price: with every level up comes the expense of spending Runes on new level upgrades.
However, you can reduce costs by strategizing when leveling up. Pay particular attention when defeating enemies with glowing eyes as this will yield higher Rune rewards - this also applies when taking on bosses!
Attributes such as Vigor (which influences your maximum HP) and Strength (which increases damage done with certain weapons) will cost more to raise as they increase with rank; resting at Sites of Grace offers you another way to spend runes to increase them; any higher your stats go, the more they'll cost to increase them.
Sell Items
Elden ring runes are the main in-game currency in Elden Ring, acting both as experience points (XP) and currency available from vendors across The Lands Between. Furthermore, their loss upon death will only be reclaimed upon returning to their location of defeat and returning back into battle.
Additionally, Runes serve multiple uses in this game beyond their core functionality, including being dropped by Shardbearer bosses as Key Items with powerful buffs attached. Players may also discover Mending Runes which serve as healing items in-game.
Players earn Runes organically through killing enemies and exchanging them at vendors, with their numbers gradually growing as the endgame approaches. But there are faster ways of getting Runes: merchants at Roundtable Hold and Raya Lucaria Academy offer Rune sales; alternatively IGGM provides an efficient buying process.
