Hair transplant procedures involve removing hair follicles from one area of your head, typically the back or sides, and transplanting them into balding areas. There are three major forms of hair transplants available today: FUT (follicular unit transplant), FUE (follicular unit extraction), and DHI. The extraction processes for FUE and DHI are similar; the difference is in the insertion step. However, during the insertion phase, FUT behaves similarly to FUE. However, FUT's extraction procedure differs from the other two. The success rate of a hair transplant is greatly dependent on the method used; hence, it is prudent to select the approach that will produce the best results for you rather than in general. People frequently question "what is the best hair transplant method?"  so here's a little explanation to help you decide which is best for you.

The FUT method

FUT is the oldest of the three procedures, and the scars it leaves are the most visible. Before extraction, the doctor uses local anesthetics to numb the donor's location. The doctor next makes an oval incision behind the rear of the scalp to remove the skin. Following that, the doctor makes microscopic incisions in the recipient area, known as canals. Once everything is in place, the implantation process begins. One by one, they place follicles into canals. Because it takes less time, FUT is the most cost-effective type of hair transplantation.

The FUE method

In contrast to the FUT procedure, patients who undergo FUE surgery do not have permanent visible scars. Rather than cutting a portion of skin, operators utilize micromotors. After administering anesthesia, the operator makes incredibly small holes around the follicles for harvesting. Following this, the operation is very similar to FUT in that the physician opens canals and the operator implants one follicle at a time.

DHI method

DHI employs a micromotor technique akin to FUE. However, DHI goes beyond simply opening and implanting canals at specific times. The sharp edge of the procedure-specific equipment pierces the skin, forcing the follicle inside. DHI surgeries require the use of additional staff, which makes them slightly more expensive than the FUE approach.

NeoGraft

NeoGraft is a form of FUE that is among the most advanced hair transplant techniques available today. Because it is semi-automated, it reduces some of the human errors associated with surgery. During FUE hair transplantation, a surgeon physically extracts individual hair follicles from the back or sides of the head. Before inserting the new hairs, surgeons make a series of incisions in the balding areas of your scalp.

Using suction and a wand, the NeoGraft treatment extracts hair follicles. Instead of making an incision for new hair follicles, the surgeon can use specific equipment to make the incision and transplant the hair follicle. This approach reduces the risk of surgical complications due to its less invasive nature.
